But as she discovers more of the links between her fantasy world and the mundane present, she is drawn only deeper into a dream...。1860年，第二次鸦片战争以天津沦陷、圆明园被焚而告终。清政府被迫开放天津为通商口岸。在随后的几年中，来自西方的商人、冒险家、传教士蜂拥而至。他们按照各自国家的房屋样式盖起了一栋栋风格迥异的西式建筑，而在最早出现的一批建筑中有一座英式客栈。1886年，这家客栈经过扩建，被改造成了一座极尽奢华的大饭店。而它的房屋则因为风格独特、角楼高耸，被视为昔日天津的地标性建筑。这家饭店的名字叫利顺德。。
